dancing at hudson Valley weddingA crisp, clear spring day was the setting for my first wedding of the year.  I had the pleasure of being a part of Kristin and Dave’s wedding day!  A couple that I felt completely in tune with from our first meeting.  The wedding ceremony and reception took place at The Fountains at Wallkill Golf Club in Middletown, NY.   Kristin and Dave had their wedding ceremony on site.  It was really a special intimate ceremony.  Kristin and Dave and Scarlett, their daughter who played a big role as flower girl and daughter of the newlyweds, were all part of the ceremony.  Heartfelt vows, filling a picture frame with colored sand and presenting a necklace to Scarlett were all things that made this wedding day so special, a new family was formed that day!

I was in charge of the music.  My role as the wedding DJ was to create this environment that incorporated all of the guests and their musical tastes, make it fun, memorable and unique!  So how did I do that?  It was actually pretty easy.  One of the most important things for a wedding DJ in the Hudson Valley to do is to get to know your bride and groom and making their wedding day represent them as a couple, through music, style and planning.  I knew exactly what they wanted!

Kristin and Dave were introduced into their reception and danced their first dance together to “All I want” by Staind.  A special song to the two of them, they chose to dance alone to it and even put a little choreography in there!  Kristin and Dave then had their parent dances after the toast and this is where I came in.  Kristin wanted to be different with her dance with her dad.  She wanted it to be fun and different, surprise everyone!   I created a medley of short clips of party songs, beginning and ending the medley with the song “Kind and Generous”  by Natalie Merchant.   It was really cool, no one expected it and they played it out perfectly!!

The night went on with some dancing and dinner.  To add to even more entertainment, Kristin and Dave surprised all of their guests with a belly dancer!  Yes a belly dancer, a beautiful one at that!  Belly dancing is something that Kristin really enjoys so how perfect it was to have it at her wedding.  Her name was Aisha, exquisite belly dancing, and that it was.  She encouraged the crowd to participate and had both the kids and adults shaking their hips.Belly dancing at husdon Valley wedding

I opened up the dance floor after dinner with a special family song for Kristin, Dave and Scarlett.  The Song “Family” by Laurie Berkner.  I knew exactly the song that they were talking about when they asked for it.  Having children myself, it is one of those songs that just sticks in your head. Everyone joined in and the party partied on!

Needless to say that there was alot of planning, emotion and excitement in the air that night.  The details were so unique and memorable at this wedding.  Everything from the music, the ceremony, the little details, (like Kristin’s self made diamond shoes and cartoon of love table numbers),  the belly dancer.  It all came together so well and made the day completely unique to Kristin, Dave and Scarlett!

This incredible wedding day was captured on video by my friends Jenn and Mike from Beautiful Memories.  Check out some highlights from the wedding!
